This variability is largely due to the condition's inherent biological heterogeneity, meaning patients with similar initial presentations can follow profoundly different clinical paths [10]. Current practice often relies on static assessments at a single point in time, a method that fails to capture the dynamic evolution of the illness and can obscure crucial prognostic information [11, 12]. A recent study now provides a framework for mapping these complex patient journeys, identifying predictable patterns of illness progression over time.
